For the Z Building abroad, AK Lichtdesign developed a holistic lighting concept that not only makes architecture visible but also allows it to be experienced. Here, light is understood as an identity-forming design element that shapes perception, guides movement, and precisely emphasizes the architectural character of the building.

The goal of the project was to reinforce the building’s architectural idea through light and clearly highlight its special features. Through targeted accentuation, harmonious lighting moods, and thoughtful lighting guidance, a strong visual identity with a high quality of stay is created, effective both by day and by night.

Challenge

The challenge was to develop a lighting concept that does justice to the building’s architectural expression while also creating orientation, clarity, and atmosphere. Light was not meant to dominate, but to support, structure, and emotionally enrich the architecture.

The lighting design is based on a deliberate interplay of restraint, precision, and design clarity.

   The lighting guidance supports the building’s lines and volumetry, making the architectural idea clearly legible.
