For the Hegau Tower in Singen, AK Lichtdesign developed an innovative concept for a media facade that combines architecture, lighting design, and digital communication. As a prominent high-rise landmark in the cityscape, the tower offers ideal conditions for Digital Out of Home applications and a strong visual presence in urban space.
The aim of the project was to link the tower’s architecture with modern media technology and to create a flexible, economically viable, and high-quality facade solution in terms of design. The facade is not only illuminated, but understood as a communicative surface that conveys identity, information, and brand impact.
Challenge
The challenge was to develop a media facade that integrates architecturally and precisely into the tower, achieves a strong long-distance impact, and at the same time remains technically and economically feasible.
Solution
The media facade concept is based on a clear connection between architecture, light, and digital content.
Design integration into the architecture
The media facade follows the structure of the building and strengthens its architectural impact.Optimized long-distance impact and visibility
Analysis of sightlines and urban space ensures high visibility by day and night.Readability of digital content
Content and light intensity are coordinated for different times of day and viewing distances.Analysis of Digital Out of Home potential
Examination of reach, usage scenarios, and communicative possibilities.Cost-benefit evaluation
Economic analysis of investment, operation, and added value of the media facade.
The result is a forward-looking facade concept that strengthens the Hegau Tower as a modern landmark and opens up new possibilities for digital outdoor communication.
