Rust, Germany

For Hotel am Park in Rust, AK Lichtdesign developed a comprehensive lighting concept for the exterior facade and hotel grounds.
The goal was to enhance the architecture, wayfinding, and lounge areas through precisely coordinated outdoor & facade lighting and to create a welcoming, high-quality atmosphere for guests.
The result is a lighting design that harmoniously combines functionality, safety, and aesthetic staging.

Challenge

The hotel’s expansive outdoor areas combine different zones—facade surfaces, garden areas, pathways, and lounge areas.
The challenge was to create a coherent lighting image that supports both orientation and atmosphere without disrupting the overall calm impression of the property.
In addition, architectural details were to be subtly highlighted and lighting accents positioned so that they appear high-quality both day and night.

Solution

The lighting design is based on clearly structured planning across multiple levels:

  1. Facade staging
Targeted lighting accents emphasize the hotel’s architectural lines and give the building a calm, elegant nighttime presence.

  2. Atmospheric outdoor lighting
Warm-toned spotlights create depth, highlight plant and material textures, and create an inviting ambiance for guests and visitors.

  3. Functional pathway and orientation lighting
Glare-free luminaires provide safe wayfinding and a harmonious overall appearance—technically precise, energy-efficient, and unobtrusive.

  4. Light art & mood zones
Subtle lighting elements set artistic accents and enable different usage scenarios—from arrival to evening operation and events.

Through the combination of technical planning, atmospheric lighting design, and energy-efficient implementation, an outdoor concept was created that visually strengthens the hotel: welcoming, high-quality, full of character.
